Using MapMan

Integrating protein data with transcript data

Hi Axel / Marc Lohse,

I have a mapping file with transcript data. Can you please explain me how I can integrate protein data into this. Can I generate a different mapping file with protein sequences and then append with the transcript mapping file.

Thank you for your time and constant help.

Regards
Rao

You may map the protein data separately and then merge the mappings.
If you use the mappings files in text or ms excel format, you may just merge both mappings and remove non unique lines.
You should also mark the the protein data as of type protein.
Textor excel MappingFileStructure:

BINCODE NAME IDENTIFIER DESCRIPTION TYPE

Valid values(single letter) within the type field are:

T TYPE_TRANSCRIPT
M TYPE_METABOLITE
P TYPE_PROTEIN
E TYPE_ENZYME;
D TYPE_DERIVED;
